QUEBEC, Jan. 10 /CNW Telbec/ - Once again, Aéroport de Québec inc. stays
true to its "Passenger Orientation" by welcoming WestJet Airlines to Québec City. The long awaited arrival of the carrier will coincide with the festivities surrounding Quebec City's 400th anniversary, and a record breaking year for passenger traffic, with a 12 % increase in 2007. "Adding WestJet to our list of carriers has been a longstanding priority for us in order to respond to our passenger's expectations. As with the construction of our new terminal, which continues to move full speed ahead on-target and on-budget, the addition of this new service bears witness to our commitment to provide customers with world-class services and facilities, said the President and Chief Operating Officer of Aéroport de Québec, Mr. Pascal Bélanger. WestJet will begin services on May 18, 2008, with a daily flight between Québec City and Edmonton, with a stop in Toronto, on board a Boeing 737-700. This modern 136-seat aircraft is equipped with live seatback television providing its customers with a great guest experience. The President and Chief Operating Officer also noted that this new service will open a wide range of services to western destinations, and will most certainly lead to competitive services for travelers in the domestic market. "The diversification of services from Québec City remains essential in order to improve Quebec's accessibility and to sustain economic growth in the region. As Quebec City's 400th anniversary celebrations get underway, and the modernization of our Airport Terminal, WestJet allows us improve the visibility and reach of City at an international level" mentioned Mr. Bélanger. Since November 1st 2000, Aéroport de Québec inc. is responsible for the administration, operation, maintenance and development of Jean Lesage International Airport.
