Default Air Transat expands summer service to Europe

http://travelpress.com/NEWS/index.php?sid=2886>[READ

(Some interesting developments which I outlined in italics)

Air Transat is putting the spotlight on Europe next summer with direct flights to 30 cities in 11 countries. In total, there will be more than 110 flights a week departing Canada, including direct flights from Montreal and Toronto to regional cities of France. Starting at the end of May, Air Transat will offer weekly departures from Montreal and Toronto to Basel-Mulhouse, a new destination. Located on the border of France and Switzerland, this destination gives travellers direct access to Switzerland and/or to Alsace on the French side. Switzerland has thus been added to 10 other countries to which Air Transat flies in Europe -- Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands.
Air Transat’s 2008 program features numerous new flights. Ireland becomes accessible from Montreal with the addition of a flight to Dublin. From Toronto, regional cities in France will be more and more accessible by means of a flight via Montreal to Nice and another to Lyons. As well, Air Transat will be adding a Toronto-Brussels flight. From Fredericton, a new weekly flight will be offered to London. Finally, Air Transat will offer two weekly direct flights from western Canada to Paris -- one from Vancouver and the second from Vancouver via Calgary.
Air Transat is also increasing the number of flights to its most popular destinations. There will be two additional flights to Paris from Montreal and Toronto, bringing weekly flights from Montreal to nine and from Toronto to five. A third flight per week will be offered from Montreal to Nice, Athens, and Barcelona. Air Transat will offer a second flight each week from Montreal to Bordeaux. From Toronto, an additional flight will serve Barcelona and Athens, for a total of three flights a week to each of these destinations. As well, Air Transat will offer an additional flight to Hamburg, for a total of two flights a week. (www.transatholidays.com)
