Default Photo Screener Instructions

The following set of tips and suggestions are presented as a training and information document for site members that would like to be considered as a Photo Screener.

1) Always try to find at least one secondary for each upload. Additional catagories make the subject more likely to generate hits.

2) If an aircraft is in landing or take-off mode, the front wheel must be in the air in order for the "Landing and Take-off" catagory to be used.

3) An added sticker does not make a photo suitable for the "Special Paint Scheme" catagory.

4) Action shots must include a blurred background to give the image an extreme sense of movement. Simple landing and take-off shots are not considered "Action Shots".

5) As a general rule, we do not accept images that are blurred and out of focus nor do we accept images that are washed out or too dark.

6) We do not accept images where the aircraft is very small in the frame.

7) Against the light shots and cloudy shots are only accepted if the subject is very rare.

8) Images must be close to 4:3 format which means 1000 X 1500 pixels. Images that are obvious wide screen format should be rejected.

9) Classic jets are 707, DC-8, VC-10, BAC One Eleven, and Comet. DC-9, DC-10, 747, 727, 737, F28, and other types are only considered as Classic Jets for secondary catagory if the image was taken in the 1960s or early 70s.

10) Don't forget to use the hybrid scheme as a secondary catagory if it applies.

11) If you are unsure about accepting or rejecting an image, just leave it in the photo approval queue for the webmaster to handle.

Default Interesting reason for rejecting photo

Is the following a valid reason for rejecting a photo?

xxxx already has slides of this aircraft in a left takeoff view on the site, so sorry.

If the subject is extremely common and we have a very similar shot in the database, then we don't need mutiple shots of same aircraft, same profile view.

I should reiterate, the website is not a dumping ground for ho-hum standard run of the mill shots.

The website should showcase unique, excellent views, superb photography, with an interest perspective.

So we don't need reams and reams of Alitalia Airbus 320s or Air Canada A320 or WestJet 737s. If your shot is really unique and superb by all means upload it.

But common shots of common airlines need not be uploaded. Same applies for people who upload 4 shots of the same plane taken a few seconds apart. That is a waste of the uploader's time as we will only accept one of the images.

Cheers,
