Honeywell B720 and CV580 chasing thunderstorms last week
Last week Honeywell were using their PHX based Boeing 720 and their Everett, Washington based Convair CV580 for a three day thunder storm hunting exercise throughout the US Midwest. The 720 was equipped with Honeywell’s brand new RDR4000 weather radar, while the Convair was equipped with an existing competitor’s weather radar, and the mission’s purpose was to compare the different systems on a routing that took the aircraft through thunder storms in Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, and South Dakota.
