Default 2010 Winter Olympics flights at YVR

Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics 12-28 February 2010. Special charter flights from all over the world is expected. The busiest day is expected to be 1 March when everybody is leaving.

I'll try to spot and report as many as I can. However, I will be out of town for business the week of 8-13 Feb and also 22-28 Feb. May be Henry, the web master, can fill in while I am away.

Canadian Armed Forces are helping the security detail. So far, CAF CC-177s (C-17) Globemaster has brought in eight CH-146 Griffons helicopters. This is the first arrival of CC-177 at YVR. See my up-loaded photos.

Three CF-188 (F/A-18) are now stationed at YVR taking over the cross wind runway 12/30. They sat in a tent at the end of the runway.

All kinds of CAF aircrafts have been in and out, including C-130, Twin Otter, Sea King, Challenger and A310.

Plane spotters must park 3M (10 feet) away from all fences.
