Canon 8600 flatbed scanner excellent for slide scanning
My friend Joe Fernandez sent me some scans he made from slides using the Canon 8600 flatbed scanner and the results are nothing short of stunning.
Joe tells me this flatbed that can scan four slides at a time and also negatives and large format. Joe says .. "I've used it for over 3 years now and it was fairly cheap ($189 USD). Those HP scanners we had were good workhorses but this one is better quality. I scan the original slides at 3200 dpi then downsize a second file to 1024 pixels at 72 dpi for 4x6 prints with a little sharpening. Just remember that this model is an older model....they should have better ones by now.... but they save you the $$$$ when compared to a Nikon Cool Scan which runs no less than $700-800."
